This publication explores the contemporary renaissance of printed zines as a form of independent artistic and social expression. It examines how artists use small-scale publishing to challenge dominant narratives, build communities, and reclaim the materiality of print in the post-digital world of the 21st century.

Drawing on the history of zine culture, the publication analyzes the contemporary return to print as a tool for creating alternative cultural circuits.

Combining research with artistic practice, the book treats zines not as a nostalgic relic, but as a still vibrant and increasingly popular form of modern communication.

The extended second edition of The Renaissance… includes an extensive appendix, created in collaboration with over twenty artists and publishers from, among others, the USA, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, Italy, and Taiwan.
