About us

Oficyna Peryferie is a publishing house and art publications studio was established in 2014 in Warsaw on the initiative of the artist Michał Chojecki.

We have a particular focus on zines as a form of printed social media.

Since the beginning of our activity , we have not only created publications , but also conducted workshops, shared knowledge and built a local publishing community , believing that publishing is a community practice .

Read Michał Chojecki's 2025 manifesto, Doing Things Together: Publishing as a Collective Practice.

The initiatives we implement as part of our program include:

  • Warsaw Zine Library – a reading room for artistic publications,
  • Crit Club – a discussion group for creative people working with publications
  • Riso Print Club and Riso Open Studio – Riso's shared printing studio.

We are Riso pioneers in Poland, operating our own machines since 2016. We currently have two Riso machines with 16 colors and a range of bookbinding tools that enable us to independently produce our own publications .

For us, independence means the ability to decide on the process, timing, and content—even if it means a smaller scale and slower pace. This allows us to operate outside the pressures of institutional and market expectations, building a close relationship with our audiences.

We collaborate with artists with whom we have a personal connection. We rely on positive connections: first a relationship, then collaboration. Being a publisher is a journey for us.

Internship?

If you're interested in an internship at Oficyna, let us know. Introduce yourself and tell us why you want to help us and what you'd like to learn.

We hire people for internships who have a passion for zines and independent publishing. We hire people who are driven, intrinsically motivated, and who do things, not just say they want to do them.

Applications: kontakt@oficynaperyferie.pl

How to publish with us?

Above all, get to know yourself. Show what you do and who you are. Come to meetings at Oficyna, sign up for workshops, and hang around. Do your thing and show your work.

Who are we looking for to collaborate with?

Our dominant aesthetic is drawing and illustration , but...

...we are looking for people who, above all, have their own artistic practice .

We care about people who, beneath the surface of their style or aesthetics (which is very important in the case of illustration and drawing), have their own artistic agenda : themes, views or attitude to the world.

We are looking for people who do not treat creation as a commission, but who consistently develop issues that are important to them from one job to another.

Let us know who you are. Tell us a little about yourself and your art, introduce yourself, and show us your zines. We're not interested in your CV, we're interested in what you do.

Do we publish debuts? There are no debuts these days – lack of a publisher isn't an excuse. We work with people who produce zines and publications, regardless of scale and resources – whether they are world-renowned artists or locally self-employed.

We're interested in works created from an inner imperative , a personal necessity. Often, they're kept at the bottom of a drawer.
