Publisher's comment:
"I must say that this zine has special value for me. It's a return to the roots of Oficyna, specifically to its SCREEN PRINTING roots. Before we developed our workshop towards Riso printing, the screen was my primary work tool. It's a manual technique—you press the inks yourself onto the paper using stencils, and it's not easy for me; the entire run has to be printed by hand, color by color, copy by copy.
Zuzia, the zine's author, has a very distinctive style, one that could even be called a graphic language. Potatoes, mushrooms, and slimes take on the form of pleasant and likable characters. There's a certain internal, semantic contradiction* in her work that has sparked a lively enthusiasm in me for years.
Three years ago, Zuzia completed an internship at one of my favorite and most inspiring studios, Le Denier Cri in Marseille. It was there that the seeds of the "Shaving for My Love" project were born, which, I believe, clearly demonstrates the power of this publication in its uncompromising narrative. Brutal and vulgar influences, however, did not dominate the author's personality, who, with her typical sense of humor, found the optimal balance between the captivating and the mysterious.
We finished printing the zine on Valentine's Day, but what the hell—there was still some folding and sewing involved. In contrast to the smooth and slippery personality of the lyrical subject, we sewed the zine with thread on a Janome textile machine. You can dehair it yourself :O
*not to say "adversarial :))))"
