About the zine:

Agata Królak builds the zine around a seemingly simple gesture: writing down truths that are easiest to forget when they are most needed. However, The Important Things I Don’t Want to Forget is not a nostalgic notebook, but a small tool for regaining contact with oneself. The slogans that appear in it – “learn,” “unlearn,” “affirm,” “explore,” “know,” “find,” “compare,” “remember” – form a personal instruction manual for life, creativity, and the relationship with one's own variability.

How to remember acceptance, tenderness, curiosity, and courage in a world that rather teaches comparison, conforming to norms, and measuring one's self-worth by external criteria?

The graphic language Agata uses is a good example of the tension she writes about in the zine. The tension between learning and unlearning.  The seemingly trivial and unprofessional aesthetic of her drawings shows that “being yourself” is not a stable identity to be discovered once and for all, but a practice of continuous correction: checking what is still mine, and what has been taken over from upbringing, fear, or social pressure.

The form of the zine reinforces this meaning. Pockets, inserts, spreads, and small elements to discover turn reading into a physical, almost nurturing gesture: something needs to be opened, removed, unfolded, preserved. The drawing – light, sometimes childlike – does not invalidate the seriousness of the topic but allows it to be discussed without grandiosity.

The zine acts as a portable self-help tool: a collection of reminders that are not meant to fix us, but to restore our right to softness. And that's okay.
