The graphic "Giving up was never an option" was created a few months before the outbreak of the war in Ukraine. The idea is based on the well-known meme "peace was never an option," but somewhere subconsciously I felt I disagreed with this message. Peace is always an option—but giving in to violence is not.
In this graphic, I see a kind of allegory of inner strength, expressing the rebellion of an ordinary chicken destined for soup against the axe that awaits it. The individual, doomed to defeat, to beheading, raises his head, takes a Molotov cocktail, and decides to fight.
